The Baba Adelakun Hall of Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral was agog as the bishop, priests, religious and lay faithful of Oyo diocese and Ibadan Archdiocese gathered together for this year’s inter-diocesan Carols. ‘Emmanuel, Reign in Every Heart’ was the theme of this year’s Carols. The Oyo Diocesan Choir was at their best as they rendered different traditional Christmas Hymns and Choruses. The Ibadan Arch-Diocesan Choir for the third consecutive year added flavor to the Carols as they also presented melodious Christmas renditions.
The carols came to its peak when the Bishop, alongside his priests took to the stage. As expected, the people of God danced and sang the praise of the newly born king. The place of the word of God was not left out as Rev. Fr. Francis Olufunmilayo enjoined all gathered to be a light to the world. According to him, our world is consumed in outright darkness; the scourge of Boko Haram and other horrendous things which is a contraposition to the dictate of God is prevalent. Hence, we must whip it enthronement by being the light to our world. The words of the Bishop Emeritus, Most. Rev. Dr. Julius Adelakun also re-echoes this fact.
Gift were given to the participating choirs. The bishop thanked all present and set the tone for the next year’s carols as he expects more dioceses and families to participate. The programme was covered by NTA Oyo and was be televised on the of 19th Dec., 2013 at 7:00pm.
Still look out for more news about this joyous season. Merry Christmas!!!
