Divine Mercy Sunday was celebrated in a very wonderful way in that it witnessed the pastoral visit of the local ordinary of Catholic Diocese of Oyo, Most Revd Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo; reception of some Sacraments and blessing of the dwelling place of the true Body of Christ (Tabernacle) newly installed in the Church.

The Holy Mass commenced at 10:00am as the Bishop welcomed all present at the celebration of the feast day of Divine Mercy, the day that reminds everyone about the unconditional Love of Christ to the humanity.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Francis ‘Femi Oladiipo urged the people of God to always be agents of God’s mercy always and everywhere they go. He also enjoined the parishioners to extend hands of charity to other people and other Parishes because there is a great reward for those that practice works of mercy.

Before the blessing of the tabernacle, Bishop Badejo emphasized the meaning and essence of the Holy Eucharist that it is the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. He also encouraged the Parishioners to find time to visit Jesus in the Tabernacle.

The Bishop administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to eight people and the Sacrament of First Holy Communion to twenty-two people including some new converts.

The former Parish Priest of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Wewe, Oyo State, Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Francis ‘Femi Oladiipo beckoned on the Bishop, the Parish Priest Rev. Fr Joshua Benedict and the entire Parishioners to pray for their benefactors Rev. Fr. Eaumon Burke and the good people of Divine Mercy Parish Balgady, Lucan South, Dublin, Ireland who donated a big Tabernacle and many others.

The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Joshua Benedict thanked the Bishop, the Former Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Francis ‘Femi Oladiipo, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Saki Rev. Fr. Jude Igba CMF, the IHM Sisters and all present for coming.

Finally, the Bishop appreciated the efforts of everyone who made out time to come for the celebration and prayed for them all after which he gave the final blessing.

May the good Lord continue to bless the Bishop, the priests and religious and the faithful of the catholic Diocese of Oyo. Amen.
