OYO DIOCESE RESUMES PUBLICATION WITH STYLE

Akede Igbagbo (The Faith Proclaimer); the News Service of the Catholic Diocese of Oyo was first published in the year 2006. At a point in time, it went into interregnum as a result of logistics. Now however, it has been revived with the publication of April-June publication which is Volume 14, No. 52 edition 2020.
This edition features the recent developments and progress in the five deaneries, parishes, churches, out stations, schools, hospitals and commissions in the diocese as well as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the state of affairs.
Also worthy of mention in the publication is the pastoral focus article titled “We still cannot breathe” written by the Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Most Revd Emmanuel Badejo where he bemoaned the hard times that our world has fallen into not only as a result of the pandemic but also the other evils like racism, domestic and child abuse, terrorism, police brutality and other sundry crimes that has increased in many countries of the world. According to him, all prospective solutions to the world’s problems must incorporate spiritual revival and moral regeneration so that they can stand the test of time. He concluded on the note of soliciting the contribution of every parish, church society, groups and individuals in the diocese towards realizing the noble objective for establishing a better world through the pastoral initiatives of the diocese.
The reportage of deeds of some of the organizations and committees in the Diocese were also not left out in addition to Opinion Poll on COVID-19 and news from around the Country and the Vatican that were also featured in the periodical among others.
An excerpt from the Editorial by the Editor-In-Chief, Rev Fr Martin Badejo says “in these few months eaten up by the locust of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a lot of persons, a lot of companies, a lot of imaginations have been remodeled, to fit into the lines of the present need. This show how vast is the human mind created by God……… Please read carefully and enjoy the news bits from our diocese especially as we take the faith to the grassroots, our pastoral focus”.
