OUR LADY’S HOSPITAL ISEYIN CELEBRATES TWO SPECIAL ICONS

The product of years of service of some persons coupled with their dedication and commitment at work cannot be waived but evergreen. It is the reason why the Catholic family of Iseyin and the entire Oyo Diocese deemed it fit to show their heartfelt gratitude to two of their workers, Rev. Sr. Lucia Akinnusoye and Mr. David Olusoji who selflessly served the church for 16 and 40 years respectively in one of her institutes, Our Lady’s Catholic hospital that bears Atupa eye clinic centre as a subordinate (the centre where Rev. Sr. Lucia Akinnusoye worked before her transfer). The whole ceremony took a grand style with the celebration of the Holy Mass, having His Lordship, Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo as the Chief Celebrant with some Priests. Among the priests in attendance was Rev. Fr. Joseph Adejumo who functioned as the homilist; In his sermon, he commended exceptionally, the two reputable icons for whose purpose a throng of crowd gathered. He marveled at their commitment and selflessness in the course of the period of service. He makes it clear that true love and sacrifice is the key to any success and this is made evident in the life of the two icons who were being celebrated, Baba David Olusoji, a one-time lab technician who served the institution for a period of 40 years as well as Rev. Sr. Lucia Akinnusoye of Atupa Eye clinic who has been in the diocese for good 16 years. He concluded by stressing that it is best not to take consolation in the salary received as it might end up measuring the degree of one’s dedication and commitment to one’s function.
The second part of the event opened with the CWO presentation, the “Ajobata Jesu” troupe among others who really made the day colourful. Bishop in his closing remarks, thanked the two icons for the notable work they have done as he encourage them to see all the encomium showered as a way of motivating them to do more. He therefore advised everyone to engage in spreading good news and not fake news about the church and others.
