OYO DIOCESE HOLDS ANNUAL MARIAN PILGRIMAGE

Thousands of people flocked the town of Tede for annual spiritual pilgrimage to the Oke Maria Pilgrimage and Retreat Centre, Tede in ATISBO Local Government of Oyo State. This year’s pilgrimage with the theme ‘nothing is impossible for God’ came up on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December, 2018 with both Catholics and non-Catholics coming together to pray through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary to God who made all things possible for his people.
The Bible Service on Friday 7th at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Tede started by 3pm with Fr Jerome Ogunleye as the preacher while the same Bible Service was being held concurrently on the Marian Hill for the aged and the sick. The Bible Service was followed by the joyful praise-filled procession of the pilgrims to the Pilgrimage Centre. The procession ended around 8pm with the prayer led by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Oyo – Most Rev Emmanuel Badejo at the Grotto on the Marian Hill.
The programme continued throughout the night with different segments anchored by different priests. It featured Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Stations of the Cross, Sacrament of Reconciliation, Healing and Anointing, Divine Mercy, thanksgiving of praise and worship and many others before finally ending with the Holy Mass early morning of Saturday 8th December, 2018.
In his homily, Rev. Fr Francis Olufunmilayo the parish priest of Divine Mercy Catholic Church Saki, enjoined the people to always be like Mary who became what God wanted her to be and not what she wanted to be because a lot of problem we are encountering nowadays is because people are no longer what God wants them to be but what they want to be since they no longer let the will of God be done in their lives.
