The foundation of St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Chaplaincy of the National Association of Catholic Corpers (Oyo State Chapter) has been laid by the Catholic Bishop of Oyo diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, which he did on behalf of His Grace, Most. Rev. Gabriel ‘Leke Abegunrin (the Archbishop of Ibadan Archdiocese). This historic event took place on Wednesday 3rd April, 2019 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Iseyin, Oyo state.
The prelate called on Christians all over the state, as well as all Corps members to donate generously for the propagation of God’s work and as well appealed to everyone to emulate the spirit of giving in order to soon bring to completion the project. He promised that on the part of the two dioceses in Oyo State, that is, Ibadan Archdiocese and Oyo diocese, they will put in their best with the help of God to see that this house of God is brought to a quick completion. He thanked the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Isiaka Ajimobi for the allocation of the land for religious working in the camp. He also registered a sincere appreciation to the federal government for the NYSC initiative which brings youths of different cultures and backgrounds together in a place to learn from each other, which has brought about peaceful coexistence and unity of the nation. He went further to remind everyone present of the words of the Psalmist: “if the Lord does not build the house, in vain do the labourers build”. He admonished everyone to continue to pray for the successful completion of the project.
The Bishop blessed the foundation and prayed that this house will continue to be house of prayer.
Among those present were Rev. Fr. Benedict Joshua (Oyo State NACC Chaplain), Sr. Bridget Monehin SSL (Assistant state chaplain), Rev. Fr. Paul Oshin (the Dean of Iseyin Denary). Others are: Frs.
